About SMS authentication
SMS authentication is an optional or required account security method used to help protect access to Waian Enterprises systems.
When SMS authentication is enabled, Waian Enterprises may send a one-time passcode or verification code to a registered mobile phone number. The user enters that code to complete sign-in, verify their identity, confirm a phone number, recover account access, or complete another account security action.
SMS authentication is used for security and account access purposes. Waian Enterprises does not use this SMS authentication program to send advertising, marketing, or promotional text messages.
Why use SMS authentication
SMS authentication may help users add an additional layer of protection during sign-in, verify identity when accessing protected systems, confirm ownership of a mobile phone number, complete account recovery steps, or receive authentication codes when required by account security settings.
SMS authentication may be used together with other authentication methods, depending on the system, user role, and security requirements.
Multi-factor authentication via SMS
When SMS multi-factor authentication is enabled, a user may receive a one-time passcode by text message after entering their username and password or when performing a sensitive account action.
The one-time passcode helps verify that the person signing in has access to the registered mobile phone number associated with the account.
How it works
- The user signs in to a Waian Enterprises identity or account system.
- The user enters their username and password or begins an account security action.
- If SMS authentication is required, Waian Enterprises sends a one-time passcode to the user’s registered mobile phone number.
- The user enters the passcode to complete sign-in or verify their identity.
- If the code is valid, access may continue according to the applicable security policy.
Enrollment and consent
Authorized users enroll in SMS authentication through the Waian Enterprises identity or account management system.
During enrollment, the user provides a mobile phone number and confirms that they agree to receive SMS messages from Waian Enterprises for authentication and account security purposes.
The consent notice explains that SMS messages are used for authentication and account security, message frequency varies based on login activity and security events, message and data rates may apply, the user may reply STOP to opt out, the user may reply HELP for help, consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchase, and the Waian Enterprises Privacy Policy and Terms of Use apply.
After entering a mobile phone number, the user may be required to enter a verification code sent by SMS before that number is activated for authentication.
Example message
Authentication codes are sent in the following format. The final line enables automatic code detection and domain binding on iOS and Android.
Waian.org: Your authentication code is 12345678. This code expires in 5 minutes. Do not share this code. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.

Message frequency & rates
Message frequency varies based on login activity, account verification, authentication attempts, account recovery, and security events.
Users may receive SMS messages when they sign in, verify a phone number, reset authentication settings, recover account access, or complete another security-related action.
Message and data rates may apply depending on the user’s mobile carrier and service plan. SMS delivery may depend on mobile carrier networks, device settings, and service availability.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Opting out, and getting help
Users may opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP. After opting out, the user will no longer receive SMS authentication messages from that messaging program. If SMS authentication is required for account access, opting out may affect the user’s ability to sign in until another authentication method is configured.
Users may request help by replying HELP, or contact support.
Privacy & terms
Mobile phone numbers, SMS consent records, and authentication records are handled according to the Waian Enterprises Privacy Policy. Mobile opt-in data, SMS consent records, and mobile phone numbers collected for SMS messaging are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for the full text.
Security reminder
Waian Enterprises will never ask users to share passwords or one-time authentication codes by phone, email, or text message. Users should not share authentication codes with anyone. If a user receives an authentication code they did not request, they should contact support immediately.
